The Mother of Invention

Greetings and welcome to Snelling Acoustics! I'm Steve, the creator of this eponymously named venture. I am primarily a jazz pianist and singer-songwriter, and like all independent artists, from time to time I've been forced to wear many hats. This particular cap was happily donned out of an immediate necessity and has become a rewarding parallel path in my creative journey.

In 2008 I was teaching piano and voice in San Francisco out of a few small barren practice rooms, hardly larger than bathroom stalls! To protect my hearing, and provide a cozier environment, I built my first acoustic panels. Using a DIY design I found online, the first few pieces were understandably "raw" in their production, but as my skills grew through more research, trial and error, I began building panels for other teachers' spaces. Next followed requests for a handful of home studios, and it wasn't long before friends and colleagues persuaded me to offer my panels to the public. 

Since then, I've built hundreds of panels, bass traps, gobos, and one-of-a-kind artistic pieces for spaces ranging from home studios and entertainment rooms to professional mastering suites. With performance and quality second to none, Snelling Acoustics panels are hand crafted, with sturdy frames and durable attractive fabrics. Best of all, they are amazingly effective at improving the sound of critical listening environments required for music production, as well as calming down lively conversation areas, atriums, hallways, cafes, and waiting rooms—improving intelligibility with a warming ambience.
